Watkins ends maiden rallying season on a high

Welshpool based teenager James Watkins ended his first year of rallying with a faultless drive on last Sundays Pembrey Christmas Stages, bringing his MakeFast backed Skoda Favorit home inside the top fifty.

Second place for Bird on Christmas Stages Rally

In his first rally for six months Penrith driver Paul Bird came back in fine fashion to claim runner up spot in the Specsavers Christmas Stages Rally held at Croft Circuit in North Yorkshire.

Driving the Vent Axia and Kick Energy sponsored Subaru WRC, Bird and Northallerton co driver Ian Windress were up against some of the top drivers in the UK but after a steady start, which involved having no handbrake for the first three stages, the pair started to climb the leader board as the day progressed.

Christmas Stages

Another excellent day up at Croft Circuit and an awesome entry to boot. Sadly 2007 winner John Stone did not start as his Metro 6R4 was not ready, but Paul Bird, Tony Bardy, Kevin Proctor, Charlie Payne, Ryan Champion and Mark Jasper all tried hard to claim victory.

It was Proctor who took victory by over a minute in the end in his Impreza WRC but behind him the battle was fierce with only 5 seconds covering the next three places. It was the Impreza WRC  of Bird who edged out Bardy’s Sunny GTI-R by three seconds with the Darrian T90 of Ashley Field fourth and top 2WD entry.

Peugeot Sport will display a range of competition cars including the 207 S2000 that Kris Meeke and Paul Nagle will drive in the 2009 IRC Rally Challenge.

Williams wins championship in first year of stage rallying

26 year old Dewi Williams is celebrating a very successful year of rallying after clinching the ANWCC Novice Championship and, in only his first year of stage rallying, also finished third overall, beating a host of more experienced drivers in his Gwynedd Environmental Waste Services (GEWS of Penrhyndeudraeth) backed Peugeot 205.

Race Retro 2009 marvels at fifty years of racing minis

Race Retro 2009, the international historic motorsport show, will marvel the history of the racing mini as the marquee celebrates its fiftieth anniversary. Held at Stoneleigh Park from 13th to 15th March, Race Retro will feature the ex-works Mini that raced to victory in the 1967 Monte Carlo Rally as well as the victorious driver Rauno Aaltonen and a superb collection of some of the most significant ex-works cars in Mini history on display in the Rally Hall.

Historic motor racing experts take on Allard restoration project at Race Retro 2009

A team of historic motoring racing mechanical experts will aim to restore a mid-1940s Allard L Type back to its former glory at Race Retro, held from 13th to 15th March 2009 at Stoneleigh Park, Coventry. The Allard L type four-seater tourer is chassis number 136 making it only the18th of its type to be built and one of the earliest post war Allards known to exist.
