Alan Cookson and Julian Wilkinson  Pirelli Tour of Cumbria RallyFive stones lighter than he was back in January, Saltash rally driver Alan Cookson is hoping to make good use of the extra power-to-weight ratio when he and London co-driver Julian Wilkinson return to the 2009 Pirelli MSA Gravel Rally Championship with next Saturday’s Pro-Art Signs Swansea Bay Rally.

Regular gym sessions four or five times a week, coupled with training for the Plymouth Half Marathon has seen Cookson lose around 70lbs so far and after a couple of months out of action, he’ll be back behind the wheel of his venerable Subaru WRC nicknamed ‘Daisy’. Read More »

There was always the prospect of close competition throughout this year’s MSA British Rally Championship, so it should not be a surprise to see close rallying between the C2R2 runners on this weekend’s Rally Isle of Man.
 
All the cars in the BRC’s R2 class are part of the Citroën Racing Trophy (CRT) prize structure, so CRT follows class in the points table. Irishman McCormack leads with perfect scores on rounds two and three, while second placed Jason Pritchard took the first round in his new C2 Max Kit car. The 2008 Championship winner could so easily have been at the top of the table though, but for a time-sapping excursion on the Pirelli. Read More »

The latest F1 racer to go on display at the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu, is the 2004 B.A.R. Honda driven during the 2004 race season by Takuma Sato. The Japanese F1 racing driver made a detour on his way to Goodwood last week to unveil his car in front of a delighted audience of Beaulieu visitors and a contingent of his loyal Japanese fans. Alongside the car is a display of racing clothing worn by Taku during the 2004 season, together with a number of items from his personal collection.
