EMMU_article01Rachel Medich, from Carlisle, is a volunteer for the EMMU (Emergency Mobile Medical Unit) rescue team who attend many sporting events throughout the year, including several car rallies. They have recently returned from providing vital rescue cover for the Rally Isle of Man, a round of the British Rally Championship. 25 year-old Yorkshireman Luke Pinder and co-driver Peter Scott dominated the Swift Sport Cup on this weekend’s Rally Isle of Man, the fourth round of the MSA British Rally Championship’s 1600cc one-make series.
 
The winning margin over nearest rival, local driver David Harrison, was one minute eighteen seconds, but by the final pair of stages Pinder had eased off considerably, having built a buffer of over two minutes.
 
They stamped their authority on the event from the second stage, the first having been stopped by an accident further up the field, over thirty seconds clear of youngster Harrison and co-driver Glyn Thomas after the 11.21 mile Kella stage. Read More »

Pwllheli based Andrew Hockridge ended his strong run of finishes on the Isle of Man when the Welshman was forced to retire from last weekends Isle of Man International Rally after his Signature Cheese backed Citroen C2R2 Max lost a wheel at high speed on the seventh stage of the two day event.
 
Hockridge and co-driver Rich Mills were fighting for a podium position when the incident happened, caused by the wheel studs shearing from the hub. The pair were extremely lucky not to crash as they were racing down a narrow Manx lane at the time, and very nearly collided with a large electrical box after the front right wheel suddenly broke away from the car with no warning! Subaru rally boss George Donaldson will be on hand to assess Scotland’s up and coming young drivers at the third Junior training day organised by the Hankook MSA Scottish Championship on Saturday, July 25th.

Team values and the relationship between driver and co-driver will be the key focus of the hands-on day of activities at the Forrest Estate, near St John’s Town of Dalry, in Dumfries and Galloway.

As well as an assessment of driving skills, there will be a co-driving module led by top Scottish navigator, Dave Robson, and a session on rally car preparation by one of the UK’s leading exponents, Dom Buckley. Read More »
