perez woodpecker 09Following on from victory last time out on the Pro-Art Signs Swansea Bay Rally, former champion Steve Perez (Chesterfield) and co-driver Paul Spooner (Raglan) stormed to a dominant victory on the penultimate round of the 2009 Pirelli MSA Gravel Rally Championship by winning every stage of the Sixty & Worcestershire National Rally today. The Pro-Arts Signs Swansea Bay Rally will be shown on Motors TV to all 54 countries in its European network on Friday 2nd October at 2pm with several repeats after that.

The programme, produced by Acceleration Television, has a scheduled running time of one hour and includes competitors from all the events taking part in the rally including the contenders in the 2009 Pirelli MSA National Gravel Championship, the Clubman’s event, as well as special features on the Mitsubishi EVO Challenge and the BMW/Peugeot Yokohama Challenge. Woodpecker 09 (4)It all turned out well on this years Woodpecker as the Gravel championship joined the BTRDA series for the first time in a long time. With Haye Park running twice and the ANCRO crews using it a third time we buried ourselves in their for the day. Overall the National event was won comfortably by Steve Perez & Paul Spooner (Focus WRC) after the main challenge of Roger Duckworth & Mark Broomfield (Impreza WRC) subsided following a stage maximum on one of the runs through Radnor. 2nd went to Nik Elsmore & Craig Drew after an impressive run in their Evo IX. Completing the podium were Alan Cookson & Julian Wilkinson giving ‘Daisy’, the cow liveried Impreza WRC, a good final result before being sold. In the BTRDA, or the clubmans event, top spot went to Will Nicholls & Nick Broom (Impreza WRC). If the total times of the National field are included then Nicholls would have been leading Perez by 9 seconds, at this stage. Read More »

- Six Audi A4 DTM cars in the top ten

With a strong qualifying performance Audi driver Timo Scheider achieved a good starting base for the DTM race at Brands Hatch. The leader of the standings was the quickest of the favourites for the title and will start from the front row in his Audi A4 DTM on Sunday (live broadcast starting at 1:45 pm – German time – on “Das Erste”).
