Pirelli Plans

Dave Weston Junior is preparing for the Pirelli International Rally this weekend with a testing session with triple British champion Mark Higgins – but the young Scot is lucky to be going to the event at all.

The 19 year old from Aberdeen took a career best second overall on the opening round of the championship, the Bulldog Rally, last month, having a flawless run despite being extremely ill throughout the event.

Sainz, Brundle, Bell, Laffitte and Biela: The Scirocco R Cup

Five legendary names from the world of motorsport will line-up on the grid at Hockenheim this weekend (23-24 April), as the famous German track plays host to the inaugural round of the new Volkswagen Scirocco R Cup.  Volkswagen racer and rally champion Carlos Sainz will be joined by Frank Biela, Jacques Laffite and the British pairing of Derek Bell and Martin Brundle.

Honda racing team: BTCC preview Rockingham

The Honda Racing Team drivers Matt Neal and Gordon Shedden are both predicting a tough fight when the 2010 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship reconvenes at Rockingham in Northamptonshire this weekend.

Honda Civic racer Neal thinks the competitiveness of the series means there will be eight different drivers who will be battling for glory over the weekend’s three rounds.

TT Suzuki racer honoured with special coin

The Isle of Man government has today honoured 1963 50cc TT winner and Suzuki rider Mitsuo Ito, by announcing the release of a special 50 pence coin into circulation on the Isle of Man for the forthcoming 2010 Isle of Man TT races.

With Mr Ito remaining the only Japanese winner of the TT to this day, the special coin will feature the image of Ito-san and his 50cc Suzuki racer in action at the 1963 event.

SSR Team – Granite City Rally report

Steven Smith and navigator Russell Fair showed fantastic form with a superb 2nd place in the 205 challenge on Saturdays Station Garage Mitsubishi Granite City Rally. The result moves the team into second place in the championship and they are now leading class 3 for 1600cc cars in the Scottish Rally Championship.

As round three of the Hankook Scottish Rally Championship and the second of the 205 challenge, the team’s plan for the event was to boost their points in both championships. With the new car’s problems from the last event fixed, the team were raring for the challenge.
