Duns teenager Garry Pearson is hoping to end his recent run of bad luck when he takes to the forests of Moray on this weekend’s Gleaner Oil and Gas Speyside Stages, which runs out of Elgin on Saturday 7 August. Garry is still in contention for honours in both the Hankook MSA Scottish Rally Championship and the Brick and Steel 205 Ecosse Challenge, but knows he needs a strong result to greatly boost his chances. Peugeot UK’s Kris Meeke and co-driver Paul Nagle will start today creating their pace notes for the fast and twisty tarmac stages of this year’s Vinho Rally of Madeira

The island of Madeira lies approximately 622 miles south west of Lisbon in the Atlantic Ocean. Madeira is one of two inhabited islands which make up the Madeira Archipelago. This year’s Rally Finland was driven at a frantic pace and at the end of it the Citroën Junior Team managed to place its two C4 WRCs in the points. Dani Sordo and Marc Marti finished fifth, reinforcing their position in the World Drivers Championship. Despite a mistake at the beginning of day two, Kimi Räikkönen and Kaj Lindström got to the finish with another 310 kilometres of valuable experience under their belts.

The Citroën Total World Rally Team crews improved their positions on the second day of Rally Finland. Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia in their first race for the works team, finished in a magnificent second place, a few seconds in front of Sébastien Loeb and Daniel Elena. This double podium has helped the Citroën Total World Rally Team to increase its lead in the FIA Manufacturers’ World Championship.

The MIA ( Motorsport Industry Association) took leading employers from the motorsport industry to meet key members of the British Parliament recently to highlight the value and importance of the industry to the new coalition Government.

The new Government has made it clear that they see high technology engineering, focussed on exports, as key to Britain’s future. MIA members made sure the Government understood that motorsport is exactly in this target group and expressed their support. They highlighted the positive opportunities available within this world beating sector, which attracts so much inward investment, based on R&D, rapid prototyping, energy efficiency and fast delivery on time. David Stokes and Guy Weaver took maximum points in the Waterend Asphalt Cup on Sunday (1 August) when the SGC Printing Harry Flatters Historic Rally ran as a round of the asphalt competition that is a sub-set of the Dunlop/WONAGO.com MSA British Historic Rally Championship. Read More »

The Gleaner Oil and Gas Speyside Stages is one of the most popular events on the Scottish rally calendar, and the Brick and Steel Ecosse Challenge will be joining the huge number of crews making the trip to Elgin on Saturday 7 August for the event. The Speyside marks the start of the second half of the Challenge season, and there’s still plenty to play for in both the Honda Civic and Peugeot 205 classes.

Glasgow driver Grant Inglis leads the Civic series after four of nine rounds and took his first win of the year on July’s Rally of Argyll. Grant hasn’t finished outside the top three on any of the Challenge rounds this year, and heads to Elgin looking to continue the learning curve. Read More »
