Kick Energy supported Cross Country driver Simon Sharpe has vowed to attack from the word go when the Kenyan Cross Country Championship heads to Masinga Dam for this weekends final round. Sharpe will be co-driven in his unique and spectacular Platz hybrid by Raju Chaggar.
Nairobi based Sharpe won the final round of the 2010 season but has so far failed to find a consistent form in 2011. Mechanical gremlins crippled the supercharged V8 yellow monster on the opening round whilst a combination of factors limited the car to a seventh position on the second outing. Simon then skipped the most recent event of the JCB Ganatra sponsored series, based near Mount Kenya, due to the birth of his baby daughter.
Simon; after winning the final round last year we arrived in Isinya with a big target on our back and a lot of expectations but 2011 hasn’t exactly gone the way we anticipated. That is the nature of the sport and we’ve still had a lot of fun this year. For this, the final round, we just want to have a clean run and let the Platz stretch it’s legs!
This weekends event is based at the Masinga Resort, in the Embu region, and is organized by the Rallye Sports Club. The opening leg is due to begin at 2pm on Saturday 3 September and consists of a single leg across varied terrain to the overnight halt. Leg 2 takes place on Sunday and the surviving competitors are expected to finish at approximately 1pm.
