The Rally Queens are all set for this weekends Guru Nanak after completing a successful test session recently. Samira Khan and co-driver Anita Irwin will be treating this, the penultimate round of the Kenyan National Rally Championship, as a dry run ahead of the East African Safari Classic Rally.
Samira, a Kenyan Airways pilot, recently made her rally driving debut in the powerful Ford Escort Mk 1, and is relishing the chance to spend more time behind the wheel this weekend as she seeks to gain as much experience as possible ahead of the gruelling ten day marathon that is the Classic Safari. And after a recent test session with newly appointed co-driver Anita Irwin, the pair are in a buoyant mood. Samira; Anita and I recently had a short test together and it was very productive. We got on well in the car and it was good to be back behind the wheel. This weeks Guru Nanak is going to be an extended test for us but it should also be really good fun.
With her entry for the East African Safari Classic now confirmed, Samira has less than a month to raise the necessary budget and interested parties are urged to express their interest soon. With the Rally Queens being the only all Kenyan ladies team, and thanks to endorsements from both Michele Mouton and Yvonne Mehta, Samira is generating a lot of media interest around the world. Samira; The support I have had so far has been fantastic and a huge thanks to everyone who has come on board so far… we still have a deficit in the budget, but I will be ready for the Classic regardless!
