Sykes storms into championship lead after Bulldog rally success

Stourbridge’s Richard Sykes took his first rally win in three years on the Bulldog Challenge event last weekend, a performance which put him in the lead of the BRC Challenge rally championship.

The Welshpool-based event, which was round two of the championship, started with the Big Ray stage.

Twingo Trophy: USA 1, Scotland 2

Californian Nick Allen and British co-driver Andy Bull won the inaugural event in the 2012 Twingo Renaultsport R2 Trophy UK this weekend, Scots pairing Garry Pearson and Craig Wallace taking the R1 Trophy honours on their second event in this series.

The event, Bulldog International Rally of North Wales was the second round of the MSA British Rally Championship, this year an all two wheel drive affair which has attracted drivers from around the world.

Vauxhall Ampera wins Monte Carlo Rally

- Four Amperas among the top 10 in rally for alternative propulsion
- French team Darniche/Lambert successful against some 130 competitors

After winning the “Car of the Year 2012” award, the Vauxhall/Opel Ampera has now also won the 13th International Monte Carlo Rally for electric and alternative propulsion cars.

Al-Attiyah and Neuville look to confirm progress

- Al-Attiyah & Bernacchini aiming to carry strong form into the rally
- Neuville targeting first points finish of the season

Nasser Al-Attiyah and Giovanni Bernacchini produced their best performance in the WRC last time out, claiming sixth position at Rally Mexico. The Qatar World Rally Team crew start the Portuguese round hoping to build on that result and continue gaining experience in their DS3 WRC. Similarly, Thierry Neuville and Nicolas Gilsoul (Citroën Junior World Rally Team) will be hoping to convert their undoubted pace into a first points finish.

From Fafe to Loule, via Lisbon

- Portugal is the second gravel rally of the season with street stages and mountain passes
- Loeb & Elena confident of more points in Portugal
- Hirvonen & Lehtinen aiming to increase understanding of their DS3 WRC and fight for a podium finish

Round four of this year’s WRC, Rally de Portugal is one of the season’s most popular events. A three-time winner of the event, the Citroën Total World Rally Team will be looking to secure another victory here with its crews.

Nissan ready to roll at Ricard

The new European Le Mans Series season gets underway this weekend at Paul Ricard in the south of France.  Nissan driver, Lucas Ordonez, makes his debut for the championship-winning Greaves Motorsport team, alongside Alex Brundle and Tom Kimber-Smith.

DS3 domination on Bulldog Rally!

Round two of the MSA British Rally Championship, the Bulldog Rally, marked the best ever result for Citroën in British rallying history. Young Welsh ace Tom Cave took a splendid overall victory in his DS3 R3, and the 1600 turbo charged rockets filled the following three places. All eight of Citroën DS3’s that started the event finished in the top twelve places! Citroën UK now lead the Manufacturers series after two rounds.

Le Mans 24 hour karters take on challenge for BEN

Over the weekend of 30 June – 1 July 2012 a team of 5 people from the automotive industry will be taking part in the Le Mans 24 hour Kart race with the aim of raising £10,000 for BEN the automotive industry charity.
