Kumho drivers now lead two classes of Intercontinental Rally Challenge

Following exceptional results on the Donnelly Group Circuit of Ireland Rally (April 6-7), Kumho drivers are currently leading not one but two classes of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge (IRC); not to mention the Group N class of the Irish Tarmac Championship and the Irish Forestry Series.

Five positions in the top ten for RenaultSport F1 in China

Renault-powered drivers occupied five of the top ten positions in the Chinese Grand Prix. The RS27 powered Red Bull Racing’s Mark Webber to fourth behind race winner Nico Rosberg and the McLarens of Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton. Mark’s team-mate Sebastian Vettel claimed fifth while Lotus F1 Team-Renault’s Romain Grosjean scored his first points of the year in sixth. Williams F1 Team-Renault secured its first double points finish of the season as Bruno Senna and Pastor Maldonado crossed the line in seventh and eighth respectively.

Team Kibos head home for Kisumu Rally

Team Kibos are ready and raring to go as the Kenyan National Rally Championship heads to Kisumu, the home of Kibos Sugar, for the third round of the 2012 championship this weekend. Both Mitsubishi Evo 9’s, driven by Jassi Chatte and Raaji Bharij, have been fine tuned ahead of this crucial event.

Shedden, Jackson win at Donignton but Plato still leads

Mat Jackson and Gordon Shedden shared the wins in yesterday’s three highly-charged Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship races at Leicestershire’s Donington Park circuit. But it is Jason Plato who, despite a crash, still heads the points table as Britain’s premier motor racing series heads south for its next three races at the fastest circuit on the calendar, Thruxton in Hampshire, on the weekend of 28/29 April.

The good, the bad and the ugly…

The Donington Park circuit in Leicestershire was the venue for the second race weekend of the 2012 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship. The MG KX Momentum Racing Team continued their strong start to the season, as Jason Plato once again took the new MG6 to a podium finish.

Prodrive MINIs to compete in New Zealand, Germany and GB

The Prodrive WRC Team has confirmed that its next three events in the World Rally Championship will be New Zealand, Germany and Rally GB in Wales.

Prodrive will run a MINI John Cooper Works WRC for Dani Sordo and are talking to a number of drivers who might join the team in a second car.  The team will compete in further events later in the season.

“We looked at the events we thought would be our most competitive and which gave an even spread throughout the year,” said Dave Wilcock, team principal. 

Rutherford revels in rock-solid Granite

Isle of Mull youngster Craig Rutherford continued his impressive start to 2012 with a fine drive on Saturday’s Coltel Granite City Rally. The 21 year-old took his second consecutive win in the top class of the Brick and Steel Ecosse Challenge, building his speed in the Honda Civic Type-R in the process.

Rutherford and co-driver Martin MacCabe finished the Aberdeen-based rally 28th out of more than 100 starters. By the time the clocks stopped after 45 miles of rallying over five forest special stages, the junior driver was third-fastest front-wheel drive contender and quickest Ecosse Challenge pilot.
