Fourteen year old rally driver Alexander Vassallo took a dominant win at last weekend’s DCC Junior Stages rally, his third consecutive victory in his debut season.

Vassallo, from Corbridge, is contesting both the Junior 1000 Rally Challenge and Junior 1000 Ecosse Challenge championships this year, both championships are for drivers aged between 14 and 17 using cars with engines of 1000cc or less. Read More »

SIGNATECH-NISSAN’s G-DRIVE team arrived on the SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS circuit with legitimate podium ambitions but the loss of a rear wheel, as yet unexplained, wrecked all their hopes. Pierre Ragues, behind the wheel when it happened, was positioning the car so that his co-drivers could finish the job and fight for the final victory. Read More »

SONY DSCThis was our first visit to Donington Park in many years as we took in the 2nd Donington Historic Festival. Our main focus and interest was around the 1 hour Group C race. The form book of the era would play no part in dictating how this race would go, with the Saubers and Jaguars expensive to run along with the older Lancias and Porsches. Instead the race was taken up by the Aston Martin and Spices, both of which were also rans in period. Along with this there were larger fields in the Jaguar E Type races and Classic Touring Saloons, which saw a grid approaching 50 cars. All in all a good day out. Read More »

The old racing circuit at Ingliston Showground just outside Edinburgh once again reverbrated to the sound of screaming rally car engines as Dunfermline Car Club welcomed rally crews to the 2012 DCC Stages on 5th May 2012. This was the second round of the Brick & Steel Junior 1000 Ecosse Challenge and 12 Junior crews wheeled out their 1000cc machines to do battle in their own Junior DCC Stages. Read More »

Kev Monaghan is aiming to get his rally season back on track next weekend when he contests round 2 of the MSA Asphalt Rally Championship, the Manx National rally.

After retiring from the opening championship round in March Monaghan needs a good finish on the Manx to kick start his championship campaign. Read More »

The Rally2Raise project, which is using motorsport to raise funds and awareness for charitable causes, recently passed the £1,500 mark in donations.

The project was set up in late 2011 by Rachel Medich to support the Nystagmus Network, the MS Society, Cancer Research UK and the Joanne Bingley Memorial Foundation for post-natal depression. Read More »

After being out of action since the Malcolm Wilson rally in early March Bentham’s David Wright will contest the Tour of Hamsterley next weekend.

Wright retired from the Cumbrian event with gear linkage problems and since then lots of work has been undertaken on his Kumho Tyres, Drenth, York Brewery, Proflex and Grove Hill Garage-supported Mitsubishi Evo 9 to increase both pace and reliability. Read More »
