Nissan converts miles at Le Mans to raise £31,732 for armed forces charities

- Nissan donates £1 for every mile covered by the 14 Nissan-powered cars in famous race
- Donation split between SSAFA, Afghanistan Trust and Mission Motorsport

The 14 Nissan-powered cars running at Le Mans at the weekend, including nine of the top 10 finishers in the LMP2 class, completed a combined total of 31,732.07 miles in the world famous 24 Hour race.

Fantastic Juniors conquer Crail…..

On a day when only 44 out of 66 experienced “senior” crews could finish the whole course at the Summer Stages Rally at Crail Raceway on 16th June, 14 Junior 1000 crews started and 14 Junior 1000 crews finished. What a magnificent reflection on how quickly the youngsters aged between 14 and 17 are learning their craft and developing  the skill to drive in the conditions that prevailed when so many experienced people fell by the wayside. Plus the critical role played by the experienced co-drivers who have to tame all that energy and enthusiasm. Conditions during the day varied from bad to worse. Standing water was the headache on the first 2 of 6 stages and then persistent rain made the track more like a skating rink than a high speed rally stage.

F1 supports National Motorsport Week

Celebrating the UK’s position at the epicentre of global motor sport, the Motor Sports Association (MSA) is teaming up with all eight of the UK-based Formula One teams to offer a wide range of unique competition prizes as an integral part of this year’s National Motorsport Week.

Established by the MSA and Motorsport Industry Association (MIA), National Motorsport Week 2012 runs from 30 June to 8 July – a high profile period for the sport featuring both the Goodwood Festival of Speed and the Formula 1 Santander British Grand Prix.

The 2012 FIA World Rally Championship season will reach its halfway point on the other side of the world at the Brother Rally New Zealand. Although certain to come away from Oceania still leading the Drivers’ and Manufacturers’ World Championships, the Citroën Total World Rally Team and the Sébastien Loeb/Daniel Elena crew will be aiming to make this long-distance trip a positive experience. Second in the overall standings, Mikko Hirvonen and Jarmo Lehtinen will also be keen to defend their position!

Masinga Dam to play host to Rally Raid 3

Masinga Dam, 80km from Thika, will this weekend play host to the third round of the 2012 Kenyan National Rally Raid Championship. Over 50 competitors on a variety of machinery, including raid cars, bikes, buggies and quads are expected to tackle this challenging two day event which starts on Saturday 23rd June and ends the following afternoon.

Prodrive looks for podium in New Zealand

The Prodrive WRC Team returns to the World Rally Championship next week at the Brother Rally New Zealand two months following its last outing at Rally Portugal.   After proving his pace by taking six fastest stage times in the newly upgrade MINI John Cooper Works WRC in Portugal the team believes that Dani Sordo can challenge for the podium on the gravel stages of New Zealand.
