Tomcat Africa will run two of their v8 powered Lynx Rally Raid cars on this weekends Masinga Dam based Rally Raid. Eddie Belcher finished on the podium here last year and is aiming for a strong result in his TVR powered machine whilst lady driver Sue Jauss intends to consolidate her top 4 championship position will another calculated finish.
This weekends event is the third round of the 2012 Rally Raid Championship and both Tomcat’s have enjoyed a strong presence so far this season. Last time out, during the Soysambu Raid in May, Sue Jauss overcame a tricky and technical route to finish fourth, admitting that the muddy conditions had made the route very exciting. Although Masinga is expected to be dry for the event, recent rains have made the route rather tricky and a number of challengers will face the competitors on both days.
Eddie Belcher; We have done a lot of work to both Tomcat’s and are very excited ahead of this weekend. I really enjoyed racing at Masinga last year and narrowly missed out on winning the event. The competition is tough this year but we are all having a lot of fun and we will be hoping for a good result this weekend.
The event begins at 2pm on Saturday with a 60 kilometre section and action re-commences at 9am on Sunday morning with 2 challenging 60km sections. There are spectator areas on both days where the public can watch the action in comfort.
