Samira Khan and Chantal Young once again brought a touch of glamour to proceedings when the pair brought their classic specification Ford Escort Mk1 to the finish of the recent KCB Mortgages Rally in third position in the Classic Cup. The Rally Queens, the top all girls crew at the finish, overcame a bent steering arm to complete the 180 kilometre long event with no other major dramas.

The two day long rally began and finished in the coastal town of Diani and with a super special stage on Saturday afternoon to entertain the gathered spectators Samira and Chantal were on fine form, throwing the Escort around to the delight of everyone. An altercation with a bush on Sunday morning damaged the steering on the Ford Escort and the girls were forced to limp through the next two stages before repairs could be made. Strong times on the final two stages saw the girls consolidate their podium position and ensured that their second overall in the championship standings was guaranteed for another rally. Samira; the route of this rally was fantastic. Chants and I had an enormous amount of fun. It’s a pity we damaged the steering as we had to limp through two stages but overall it was another fantastic rally!

The Kenyan National Rally Championship now takes a break with action resuming in Nanyuki during the last weekend of August. For more information on Samira please visit http://www.samirakhan.net or join her facebook group – Samira Khan Rallying.
