theteamAt 9am on Thursday 10th of January, 9 students from the University of the West of Scotland strode onto the Go Motorsport stand at the 2013 Autosport Show, NEC Birmingham. Their Challenge – to convert a 1999 Nissan Micra 1000cc into a ready to go Junior 1000 rally car by 6pm on Sunday night.  The project was the brainchild of Alison Clark from Lockerbie – the MSA Go Motorsport Regional Development Officer for Scotland – with assistance from David Barlow. David is the Co-ordinator of the Brick & Steel Junior 1000 Ecosse Challenge – a car rally Championship for 14 to 17 year olds which is entering its second year in Scotland. Read More »

The Motor Sports Association, the governing body of UK motor sport, launched its ‘Year of the Volunteer’ at the Autosport International show (10-13 January).

Introducing the initiative on the event’s high profile Central Stage, the MSA’s Chief Executive Colin Hilton was joined by reigning Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Champion Gordon Shedden and Richard Egger, Go Motorsport’s Regional Development Officer in the East Midlands. Read More »

RAC Rally at Autosport13It was boom time for both the Roger Albert Clark Rally and the West Wales Rally Spares R.A.C Rally Championship during Autosport International at the Birmingham NEC (10-13 January).

As the show entered its final couple of hours, rally and championship manager Colin Heppenstall reflected on four days of hectic activity with unrivalled levels of competitor and spectator interest in both the rally and the championship. Read More »

RAC at AutosportFive cars representing both the Roger Albert Clark Rally and the West Wales Rally Spares RAC Rally Championship will be on show at Autosport International at the Birmingham NEC (10-13 January).

Pride of place will go to the Ford Escort Mk2 that Marty McCormack and Phil Clarke took to a famous victory on the ninth Roger Albert Clark Rally. Joining the Escort on show will be the Datsun 240Z of Robert Close, the Ford Escort Mk2 of Dave Hemingway and the Vauxhall Nova of Nigel Barrett.
