The HM Plant Honda team return to the Silverstone Arena GP circuit this weekend for the penultimate round of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship as Ryuichi Kiyonari and Josh Brookes prepare for the next two races of the Showdown.

The HM Plant Honda team endured a challenging weekend at the tenth round of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship at Croft as both Josh Brookes and Ryuichi Kiyonari had to work hard following a tough qualifying on Saturday.

In the opening race Josh raced hard to overcome some problems with settings that the team had experienced over practice and qualifying to finish sixth as Kiyo had a bad start off the line and moved up from 22nd to just outside the top ten in eleventh. HM Plant Honda will take on the world at Silverstone this weekend for the tenth round of the World Superbike Championship as Josh Brookes and Ryuichi Kiyonari return to the grid.

Josh and Kiyo both have their sights set on maintaining the team’s impressive previous form on the world stage and will use the event to gauge themselves against their world championship counterparts. The HM Plant Honda team took a clean sweep of wins in the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship at Snetterton as Josh Brookes and Ryuichi Kiyonari took a victory apiece in the final two races of the weekend.

Josh fought his way through to take victory in the second race after winning the opening race yesterday as team-mate Kiyonari was forced to retire whilst in contention to challenge for the win. In race three the HM Plant Honda riders were running first and second when Josh suffered an engine issue, similar to Kiyo in the previous race, and was forced to retire. The HM Plant Honda team returns to action this weekend for the seventh round of the British Superbike Championship and following the cancellation of the second race at Knockhill last time out, this weekend’s Snetterton round will be the first of the triple-header events.

Josh Brookes currently leads the overall championship standings by four points and despite a crash during testing last week, he is determined to build on his four consecutive podium finishes and hold his championship lead after the three races this weekend. Reigning Australian Supersport champion Bryan Staring will make his UK debut next weekend (16/17/18 July) at Snetterton, with the HM Plant Honda team, as he deputises for the injured Steve Plater in the National Superstock 1000 Championship.

Staring joins the team for the next round only and flies to the UK at the start of next week in preparation for his debut. Staring is already familiar with the Honda Fireblade as he currently leads the Australian Superbike Championship for the Japanese manufacturer, having already lifted the Supersport title. Ryuichi Kiyonari and Josh Brookes powered their HM Plant Honda Fireblades to another double podium finish today, enabling Josh to take the championship lead at the sixth round of the British Superbike Championship at Knockhill, before the second race of the day was cancelled and rescheduled due to extreme wind and rain. The HM Plant Honda team is gearing up for the first of two world stage racing appearances, starting with MotoGP at Silverstone this weekend and then with a wild card entry at the British round of the World Superbike Championship.

This weekend’s two-wheel British Grand Prix will see British Superbike ace Josh Brookes compete in the British Superstock championship’s two races – which take place as a support class to the main MotoGP race – as a stand-in for injured team-mate Steve Plater.
