revolution trackrod09Revolution Wheels Rally Team driver Euan Thorburn ended his debut season in the top level of British Rallying with a fine run to seventh overall in his Subaru Impreza N12 on last weekends high speed International Rally of Yorkshire.

Dun’s based Euan, who was recently crowned as Scottish Group N Champion, had never tackled the Pickering based event before and then faced a further handicap when regular co-driver Campbell Roy had to answer a family emergency after the recce. A late call up from David Robson meant that the Revolution Wheels driver took to the start as planned on Saturday morning. Read More »

Newly crowned 2009 Scottish Group N rally champion Euan Thorburn is looking forward to ending his maiden MSA British Rally Championship campaign on a high after a mixed season in the premier division of British rallying.

The Revolution Wheels Rally Team once again experienced a rally to forget on last weekends Todd’s Leap Ulster Rally, the penultimate round of the 2009 MSA British Rally Championship. Team driver Euan Thorburn had been defending a podium position when a broken driveshaft forced his retirement from the event with three stages left to go.

23 year old Euan and co-driver Campbell Roy had proudly flown the Revolution Wheels flag throughout the two day rally, regularly outpacing the other championship rookies. During the opening leg Thorburn had been well placed in third position when a driveshaft snapped after a heavy landing. The time loss dropped the British Rally Academy member back but a strong push saw the Dunns driver end the opening leg back up in third position. Read More »

Dave Weston Junior was scheduled to join fellow Scotsman Euan Thorburn in what would have been the youngest two car team line up in the series but unfortunately administrative issues meant that Weston Junior’s co-driver is not registered for championship points and thus the 18 year old is unable to score team points.   Read More »

Revolution Wheels Team driver, 23 year old Euan Thorburn, impressed mightily with a mature drive to fifth overall, fourth in BRC and first in class on last weekends Isle of Man International Rally, the fourth round of the 2009 MSA British Rally Championship.

Euan, co driven by fellow Scotsman Campbell Roy in his TEG Sport built Subaru Impreza N12, was competing on the event for the very first time and with only one day to recce the roads, as well as changeable weather conditions, young Thorburn posted a string of strong times throughout the difficult two day rally. A puncture on the second stage of the event cost him dearly but apart from that Euan, who won the Pirelli star driver nomination for the previous rally, was faultless all weekend. Read More »

Whilst Rob Swann and co-driver Darren Garrod have always gone well on the Isle of Man and should be on the pace in their Subaru N14 this weekend, MSA British Rally Championship newcomer Euan Thorburn has never tackled the daunting Manx stages before and has emphasised his need to make perfect notes ahead of the rally. With regular co-driver Claire Mole away the 23 year old Scotsman has enlisted the aid of Campbell Roy, close friend and occasional co-driver for the late Colin McRae, to call the notes this weekend. Geoff Jones-Jim Clark02Welsh wizard Geoff Jones enjoyed a strong return to the British Rally Championship on last weekends Jim Clark International Rally, overcoming a lack of pre event testing to run inside the top ten all weekend long in his Team Revolution Wheels Subaru Impreza N14.

Geoff, co-driven by young Sam Collis, was standing in for Rob Swann who was away contesting Rally Barbados. Despite not having contested a round of the MSA British Rally Championship since 1999 the Machynlleth based Jones was soon on the pace. A lack of pre event testing and the need to dust off the cobwebs saw the S.A Gas, Vulcan Fasteners, JLT Insurance and Cannock Electrical and Mechanical backed pair loose time to the front runners on Friday night.
