Andreas completes pre-season test rallies with 2nd on Rally Finnskog

Andreas Mikkelsen finished 2nd on Rally Finnskog (2 February) in a ŠKODA Fabia S2000, completing the icy eight stage event just 10.3 seconds behind Mads Østberg’s World Rally Car.

The result gives the Intercontinental Rally Challenge champion and former ŠKODA UK Motorsport driver the lead in the Norwegian Rally Championship, but more importantly it completes a highly successful two-rally pre-season test programme in which Andreas and new co-driver Mikko Markkula were able to fine-tune their pace note system under competitive conditions.

Ice-cool Mikkelsen thrills the crowds on an Arctic adventure

Andreas Mikkelsen marked a brief return to SKODA with a crowd-pleasing second place finish on the Lapland Arctic Rally in Finland (25-26 Jan).

Driving the same Fabia S2000 that took him to victory on the 2011 Cyprus Rally, Andreas entered the event as part of preparations for his 2013 WRC programme with Volkswagen Motorsport.

Škoda UK Motorsport’s Andreas Mikkelsen is planning the ultimate celebration run on the Cyprus Rally (November 2-4), as the 23-year old Fabia S2000 pilot is set to become the first driver to retain the Intercontinental Rally Challenge title.

Andreas and co-driverOla Fløene won their first IRC titles with victory in Cyprus last year, and with an unassailable points lead heading into the final round of this year’s series, neither can be beaten to the drivers’ and co-drivers’ titles.

Mikkelsen eighth on sombre Barum Czech Rally Zlín

Andreas Mikkelsen finished 8th on the Barum Czech Rally Zlín in his factory-prepared ŠKODA UK Motorsport Fabia S2000 to maintain his lead in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge.

Juho Hänninen (ŠKODA Motorsport) won the event as the first six places were filled with ŠKODA Fabia S2000s, although the podium celebrations and final stage (SS15) were cancelled as a mark of respect following an accident on SS13 that claimed the life of a spectator. ŠKODA UK Motorsport would like to extend its condolences to all those involved in the tragic accident.

Mikkelsen makes history with largest IRC victory

Škoda UK Motorsport’s Andreas Mikkelsen has recorded the biggest winning margin in the history of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge, when he and co-driver Ola Fløene scored a 5min 33.8sec victory on the Sibiu Rally Romania in their factory-prepared Fabia S2000.

Andreas ready to sink his teeth into Transylvania

You can usually count on Andreas Mikkelsen to stake a claim on anything he sets out to do, and the ŠKODA UK Motorsport driver’s aim for the Sibiu Rally Romania (20-21 July) is to extend his lead in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge. Round 8 takes place in the central Transylvanian region of Romania, made famous by Bram Stoker’s Dracula novel, yet this time it will be Andreas who’ll want to sink his teeth into the 12 stage event – which spookily includes two night time stages and a midnight service!
