After several years of following the same schedule we mixed it up on the Tempest this year. Okay so it was the same old stages but in a different order and we got to see the most of this rally which provided a tight battle in both the Tempest 2 & Tempest 4. In the Tempest 4 Dan O’Brien & Mark Glennerster (Focus WRC) came out on top by 20 seconds after spending the first half of the rally behind Jason Pritchard & Dale Furniss (Focus WRC). It had been a good battle all day long as Pritchard looked set for a great debut result in a WR car but in the end he just held onto 2nd with Rob Swann & Darren Garrod (Impreza) only 4 seconds back. Bonfire night and another trip down to Farnborough for the Tempest rally. As per the last few years the rally was split into two, the Tempest 2 and Tempset 4. In the Tempest 4 Michael O’Brien & Paul Spooner took victory debuting their latest Focus WRC. The victory margin was just over a minute which was an excellent performance but eyes were drawn to the crew in 2nd place as it was Dan O’Brien & James Morgan out in a much older Focus WRC, that hasn’t been used by his father for a couple of seasons. Just 9 seconds back in third place were Jason Pritchard & Dale Furniss, in their group N Impreza.
Mike Harris Junior and co-driver Josh O’Connor have pronounced themselves ready for next weekends Wales Rally GB after conducting a short but productive acclimatization run on the recent Tempest Rally. The pair will compete on the National section of this world famous rally at the wheel of a platepledge.co.uk supported Citroen C2.
22 year old Jason Pritchard finished a strong second overall on the recent JLT Tempest Rally, an event which the Builth Wells based rally driver was using as a pre Wales Rally GB test, and very nearly ended up winning! Jason was co-driven by Dai Roberts in his North Road Garage backed Subaru Impreza N2010.
Another enjoyable days rallying down South for the Tempest Rally. Once again we moved around taking in 3 different stages catching the finale of the 4WD rally last. Jason Pritchard & David Roberts (Impreza) shot out of the blocks and took an early lead against the WRC cars, in their group N car. A 15 second lead at 1st service became just 2 seconds at 2nd service and lo and behold John Lloyd & Adrian Cavenagh (Focus WRC) caught up on SS8 and then moved ahaed over the final two stages to win by 8 seconds. JLT team mates Andrew Barnes & Guy Simmons (Focus WRC) completed the podium 14 seconds behind Pritchard.
Builth Wells resident Jason Pritchard will use this weekends JLT Rally South of England Tempest Rally as a warm up session ahead of his four wheel drive World Rally Championship debut on next weekends Wales Rally GB. Pritchard will contest both events at the wheel of his North Road Garage supported Subaru Impreza N2010.
