No luck for Van Merksteijn jr. in final rally in WRC season

Peter van Merksteijn jr. and Erwin Mombaerts were forced to retire during the second day of the WRC Wales Rally GB after they had rolled with the Citroën DS3 WRC. With this disappointing result in the final WRC round of this year a difficult season in the World Rally Championship comes to a premature end for Peter jr.

Peter van Merksteijn jr. and co-driver Erwin Mombaerts will close the 2011 World Rally Championship season this week during the WRC Wales Rally GB. The Van Merksteijn Motorsport driver will appear in his Citroën DS3 WRC for the first time in a World Rally Car at the start of this tough and difficult event through the Welsh forests.

In the WRC Rally Catalunya, Peter van Merksteijn jr. and co-driver Erwin Mombaerts finished in 17th position. In this difficult rally, the Dutch driver scored 4 championship points in his Citroën DS3 WRC for Van Merksteijn Motorsport in the classification for WRC team in the World Rally Championship.

Peter van Merksteijn jr. and Erwin Mombaerts are looking with mixed feelings back on the second day of the WRC Rally Catalunya. With the Van Merksteijn Motorsport Citroën DS3 WRC they set a fantastic quick time on the longest stage of the 2011 season in the World Rally Championship but a puncture prevented them from repeating this performance later in the day.

On the opening day of the RACC Rally Catalunya, Peter van Merksteijn jr. has been able to have a good drive through the stages among the other World Rally Championship drivers. Driving the Citroën DS3 WRC he settled in the top 20 of the strong list of entrants during this tough first day of the rally of the penultimate round of the season.

Peter van Merksteijn jr. will be fighting for points in Rally Catalunya

Peter van Merksteijn jr. will fight during the coming weekend with his Citroën DS3 WRC for a place in the top ten in the RACC Rally Catalunya. Together with co-driver Erwin Mombaerts, the Van Merksteijn Motorsport driver will set off from the holiday resort of Salou to take on the full entry list with 21 World Rally Cars which will battle for the championship points.

Peter van Merksteijn jr. has to retire from WRC Rallye de France

Peter van Merksteijn jr. had to retire today with his Citroën DS3 WRC in the WRC Rallye de France. Together with his co-driver Erwin Mombaerts he went off on the slippery roads besides the track and damaged his car too badly to continue to fight for points in the World Rally Championship during the remaining two days of the rally.

Peter van Merksteijn jr. to tackle difficult WRC Rallye de France

This weekend Peter van Merksteijn jr. will take the start in the second tarmac rally of the 2011 World Rally Championship, the Rallye de France. From the rally center in Strasbourg Peter jr. and co-driver Erwin Mombaerts will compete with the Citroën DS3 WRC against the other WRC drivers for the valuable championship points.

Prior to the WRC Rallye de France, Peter van Merksteijn jr. added an extra event to his calendar which consisted of only World Rally Championship events.

Van Merksteijn Motorsport delivers double stroke in Hellendoorn Rally

During the 30th edition of the Hellendoorn Rally, Van Merksteijn Motorsport delivered a double stroke by finishing with both cars on the podium. Peter van Merksteijn jr. took victory in the event with the Citroën C4 WRC and Bas van Kamperdijk finished surprisingly second in group N with the Mitsubishi Evo IX.

Podium finish for Petter Solberg in Australia

Petter Solberg and Chris Patterson’s third place was the best result by a Citroën DS3 WRC in Rally Australia. Peter van Merksteijn Junior and Erwin Mombaerts in the other car prepared by Citroën Racing Technologies finished just outside the points in the drivers’ classification, but scored points for the Van Merksteijn Motorsport team.

This year, the first day of Rally Australia, moved to Coffs Coast in New South Wales, was marked by very heavy rain. In these wet conditions several crews went off. Petter Solberg and Chris Patterson were quick and consistent, and used their considerable experience to finish in third place overall.
