Five rounds of the Dunlop/Gambia MSA British Historic Rally Championship will be covered on terrestrial television in 2009 following confirmation of an exciting new broadcasting deal for the championship.
It had originally been planned to have the BHRC action shown on satellite stations, but recent changes in the motorsport television market place opened up a superb opportunity for historic rallying to be shown on Channel 5, within the successful Race and Rally UK series. Read More »

The rally teams of Van Merksteijn Motorsport and Ipatec Racing joined forces and will appear together at the start ceremony of the WRC Rally of Portugal which will be held next week. Traders in the Newtown area of Mid-Wales will earn around £100,000 from the annual Mid Wales Stages run by Newtown and District Automobile Club on Sunday 21 June.
The special stage rally, which puts up to 150 cars into competition over the gravel forest roads in the Hafren and Myherin complexes, will give Newtown a massive mid-summer boost as competitors, their support crews, officials and spectators spend money in and around the town. Read More »

Team Pyro’s Phil Glew (Tothill, Lincolnshire) and Total Control Racing’s Alex MacDowall (Carlisle) headed the timesheets during official pre-season testing in the ELF Renault Clio Cup with Michelin at Silverstone National and Grand Prix circuits on 24th/25th March.

25-year-old Glew, preparing for his second season in the one-make championship after finishing third last year, set the fastest time on Tuesday, 24th March on the 1.64-mile National circuit with a time of 1m 05.088s (90.65mph average). Meanwhile on Wednesday, 25th March, 18-year-old MacDowall, also returning to the championship, took the honours testing on the full 3.19-mile GP circuit with a time of 2m 09.896s (88.51mph average). Pre-season testing for the 2009 Michelin Formula Renault UK Championship concluded on Wednesday, 25th March with Fortec Motorsport’s James Calado setting the fastest time on both the Silverstone National circuit and Grand Prix circuit during the two-day official test.

The 19-year-old from Cropthorne in Worcester, set the quickest time around the 1.64-mile National circuit on Tuesday, 24th March at 53.808s (109.65mph average) during the final session. The single-seater racer, preparing for his second season in the Championship, then headed the timesheets during the second day of testing, this time on the 3.19-mile Silverstone GP circuit, home to this year’s British Grand Prix and the venue for rounds 11 and 12 in support of the World Series by Renault on 4th/5th July.
