Callum Black-Plains Rally 200919 year old Brackley based Callum Black took yet another dominant victory in the MG ZR Rally Challenge when he overcame a stuck throttle to finish 50th overall on last weekends Plains Rally. Team Pyro’s Aron Smith (Dublin) finally ended team-mate Phil Glew’s (Tothill, Lincolnshire) unbeaten run in the ELF Renault Clio Cup with Michelin after taking victory in round six at Donington Park on Sunday, 17th May. Smith didn’t have it all his own way though with Glew collecting his fifth consecutive Clio victory after winning round five held on Saturday, 16th May – extending his leading in the championship to 27 points over Total Control Racing’s Alex MacDowall (Carlisle).

porsche cup donington09aMichael Caine and James Sutton claimed victories in a fine weekend of racing in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Donington Park , Leicestershire (16/17 May). While Tim Harvey took over the Championship lead, it was Caine and Sutton taking the wins, with Sutton making it four race winners from six races. Read More »

Manor Competition’s Dean Smith (Wolverhampton) made a welcome return in the 2009 Michelin Formula Renault UK Championship with a win and second place during rounds five and six at Donington Park on 16th/17th May. The 2007 Vice Champion took an impressive lights-to-flag victory in round five followed by a second place in round six.

Renowned Welsh rally car preparation expert Geoff Jones will return to the top level of British Rallying when the Machynlleth based driver makes his competitive comeback on this weekends Jim Clark International Rally at the helm of a Team Revolution Wheels Subaru Impreza N14.
 
Geoff Jones, who runs the successful Geoff Jones Motorsport operation, is a former Nissan and Proton works driver, with numerous class awards under his belt, but this will be the first time that he has contested the Jim Clark International Rally. As such he is playing down his chances of challenging the front runners; the Jim Clark Rally is one that I have always wanted to contest and so I am really looking forward to this weekend! I haven’t done a BRC round for ten years and haven’t recce’d for an event since the Manx in 2004 so I think I’ll be a little bit rusty at first! Read More »

suzuki kane09Women’s World Championship protagonist, Natalie Kane, flew the MVR-D flag in true style at the weekend, as the Irish Suzuki rider took an impressive sixth place overall at the Catalunya Grand Prix, ending the weekend by moving higher up the championship standings.

Competing in the third round of the championship held at Bellpuig, Kane impressed early on, finishing 6th in timed practice, before going on to ride at a fast pace in the first race of the day, finishing in seventh place, behind Nicky van Wordragen and eventual race winner Stephanie Laier. Former Nissan and Proton works driver Geoff Jones will return to the top flight of British rallying when he contests the Jim Clark International Rally as part of the Revolution Wheels Rally Team this weekend.
 
Geoff, who forged a name for himself with a number of giant killing performances at the wheel of a Nissan Micra kit car in the mid 1990’s before driving for Proton in the British Championship, has concentrated on his highly successful rally preparation firm, Geoff Jones Motorsport, recently but will switch roles for this weekends high speed tarmac test. Jason Pritchard-Pirelli02Reigning Citroen C2R2cup champion Jason Pritchard is prepared to push his rivals hard on this weekends Jim Clark International Rally, which counts as the third round of the 2009 MSA British Rally Championship.
 
And after two podiums from the opening pair of gravel rallies Jason is keen to stamp his authority on the 2009 championship. The season began strongly with a dominant victory on the Bulldog International Rally of North Wales. However things were not quite as easy on the Pirelli International Rally three weeks later when an excursion into a Kielder ditch cost precious time and dropped Jason and co-driver Andrew Edwards down the leaderboard. Aberdeen based Dave Weston Junior, arguably one of the youngest drivers in the 2009 MSA British Rally Championship, is relishing the opportunity to tackle this weekends high speed Jim Clark International Rally, the first time that the 18 year old MSA British Rally Academy member will tackle a tarmac round of the British Rally Championship!
 
Dave, who is backed by both Coltel Communications and William Whyte Cargo Handlers, has impressed on the opening two rounds of the 2009 championship, with a string of top ten times and two top six finishes that see the young rookie lying fifth in the championship standings as the series heads to tarmac for the next three rounds.
