The 51st year of the MSA British Rally Championship may have started back in the grey cold of Wales in March, but as far as the title fight between Keith Cronin/Greg Shinnors and Mark Higgins/Bryan Thomas is concerned, it starts on the Toddsleap.com Ulster International Rally in three weeks time.

That’s not altogether fair on the other title protagonists though, since it is mathematically possible for anyone down to eighth place in the points table to snatch victory. The closely fought battle for this year’s Scottish Rally Championship reaches a pivotal point next weekend (August 8th) as crews head to Elgin for the Gleaner Oil & Gas Speyside Stages – the sixth round of the Hankook MSA series.

With the best six scores out of eight deciding final championship positions, the pressure is on the leading contenders.

Jock Armstrong currently leads the drivers’ standings by 28 points over Mike Faulkner, with David Bogie a further two points behind.  Just twenty-two points separate fourth-placed Escort Mk2 maestro Steve Bannister from Shaun Sinclair in tenth. Read More »
