Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) Select Committee – 26 January 2010 – House of Commons

Questions to BIS Under-Secretary of State – Tune in from 10.30am tomorrow

The third oral evidence session of the BIS Select Committee investigation into the Motorsport and Aerospace Industries will see Ian Lucas MP (Under-Secretary of State at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills) respond to questions about Government support for the motorsport industry.

With a General Election due within the coming months, this is a very important opportunity to hear the Government’s position and plans for the future.

The Motorsport Industry Association (MIA) has submitted questions for the Under-Secretary as part of its continued Parliamentary activity.

The MIA is a member of Motorsport Alliance, alongside the Motor Sports Association (MSA) and the Auto Cycle Union (ACU).

Visit at 10.30am on Tuesday to see Ian Lucas MP answer questions from the following panel of BIS Select Committee MPs:

– Roger Berry, Michael Clapham, Ian Stewart, Lindsay Hoyle, Anne Moffat and Anthony Wright – Labour
– Peter Luff, Julie Kirkbride and Brian Binley – Conservatives
– Lembit Öpik and Mark Oaten – Liberal Democrats

This inquiry is the result of the outstanding efforts of MIA members who wrote submissions to the BIS Select Committee, took part in Parliament Day, were involved with the Gallery of Motorsport Excellence in Black Rod’s Garden, and have supported all kinds of other MIA activities such as R&D Tax Credit surveys and campaigns to maintain the Working Time Directive opt-out.

It is thanks to all of our Members’ efforts that the Motorsport Industry has been granted this important opportunity – so please tune-in tomorrow.
