It was not the result that JRM Rally Team and driver Tom Cave were hoping for – or indeed capable of – on this weekend’s Pirelli International Rally, the third round of the Dulux Trade MSA British Rally Championship. A puncture and the subsequent damage caused on the sixth of the event’s 12 stages in Kielder Forest, whilst lying in fifth place, signaled the end of the event for Cave and the JRM Mitsubishi. Bank Holiday Monday and something new for us at 90right. The closest motorsport event to home yet as we went to Victory field, Ashorne to take in the Geoff Gosling Memorial Grasstrack meeting. The action was frenetic with the ‘Big Chairs’, (1000cc sidecars), being especially spectacular. Dust played havoc with the meeting though and ultimately it was cut short due to rider and spectator safety in the increasing dust clouds, which is fair enough when you have up to 9 riders on track at any one time. This is the last week to enter Croatia Rally, second round of the FIA European Rally Championship. Entries will close on May 5th at midnight.

Even if these last few days will draw the complete picture of the favourites, the situation at the end of the first phase of the entries is positive for the organizers of Croatia Rally, since they have already over 40 entries, and among these there are already more than half of the drivers who are entered in the FIA European Rally Championship. Julian Reynolds and Ian Oakey were well on their way to a second win of the season as the Dunlop Wonago MSA British Historic rally Championship moved out of Wales for the first time this season, for the Carlisle-based Pirelli Historic Rally (Saturday 30 April).   Read More »
