SONY DSCAnother gorgeous this weekend at Silverstone for the 4th round of the ILMC, where Audi & Peugeot were set to continue their battle for sportscar supremacy. After Audi had enjoyed great success at Le Mans the ILMC was very much Peugeot’s domain in 2011. Allan McNish was the biggest threat from Audi and as has frequently been the case in recent races his aggression proved decisive and in the 1st hour the lead Audi dropped 5 laps following repairs from a coming together with one of the Peugeot’s.

In the end it was the no.7 Peugeot 908 of Pagenaud & Bourdais who came out victorious from the no.2 Audi R18 of Fässler & Bernhard, by almost a lap. The Audi pairing had been closing in but Pagenaud had the gap in check and did what was needed for a comfortable victory. With the other works cars out of the equation 3rd place was a battle between Oak Racing (both cars) & Rebellion Racing. In the end it was the no.24 Oak Racing Pescarol0-Judd that completed the podium after a captivating battle.

To complete the classes LMP2 was won by the Zytek-Nissan of Ojjeh/Lombard/Kimber-Smith, in the FLM class the no.95 Oreca of Schutis/Simon/Schell was victorious, GTE Pro went to the Ferrari 458 of Fisichella & Bruni whilst GTE Am was won by the Porsche 911 RSR of Armindo & Narac.

Once again their was a strong series of support races with the CER attracting our attention, on the Saturday afternoon.
