In the last event of the 2011 season, the Rally Idrija, Piero Longhi has won the 2011 Slovenian Rally Championship, with the Skoda Fabia S2000 of the Skoda Rally Team Slovenia. With his codrivers, Lucio Baggio and Luigi Pirollo, Longhi had already conquered the title before the start as the only other driver in contention, Rok Turk, had chosen not to take part in the last event to concentrate on the European Championship and take part in the Rally d’Antibes. With two rounds left the FIA World Rally Championship looks like it’s heading for a thrilling climax. Sébastien Loeb and Daniel Elena, who have led the drivers’ title chase since Rally Mexico, were caught in the French event. Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia are riding shotgun three points behind the leaders, so Citroën can count on a second crew. Rally Spain could provide the Citroën Total World Rally Team with a great opportunity to clinch its seventh title in the Manufacturers’ World Championship. Read More »

Rally Spain is the only mixed event of the season, and it looks like being one of the highlights of the year for Citroën Racing Technologies. Four DS3 WRCs will be entrusted to four privateers. Petter Solberg, Kimi Räikkönen and Peter Van Merksteijn Jr will be joined by Evgeny Novikov. After having driven a C4 WRC for most of the 2009 season, the 21-year-old Russian will make his comeback.

‘Five cars have been prepared in our workshops for this rally,’ explains Benoit Nogier, the man in charge of the Versailles-Satory-based team. In addition to the four race-prepared DS3 WRCs, a fifth was made available for a test session this week. Infiniti, the luxury automotive brand from Japan, today announced it will expand its partnership with the Red Bull Racing Formula One team for the 2012 season. The announcement, made at the Korean Grand Prix, follows the win last weekend in Japan by Red Bull Racing driver and Infiniti global ambassador, Sebastian Vettel, of his second world drivers championship.

From 2012, Infiniti will feature more prominent branding on the Red Bull Racing F1 cars, with enhanced logos on the side of the chassis and cockpit top of the next generation car. Read More »

Matt Neal has paid tribute to his Honda Racing Team after scooping the 2011 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Silverstone last weekend.

A victory, a second place and an eighth position were enough for Neal to take his two-litre turbocharged Honda Civic to title glory, just eight points ahead of his team-mate Gordon Shedden. Read More »
