A quality field, headed by four-times winner and event sponsor Jock Armstrong and co-driver Kirsty Riddick, will line up for the start of the Galloway Hills Rally in Castle Douglas on Sunday.

The popular end-of-season challenge, which has been brought forward from its traditional December date, has attracted leading competitors from Scotland, England and Ireland.

Evgeny Novikov and Denis Giraudet finished seventh in their first outing at the wheel of a Citroën DS3 WRC in a round of the World Rally Championship. Despite being delayed by a puncture, Peter Van Merksteijn and Erwin Monbaerts showed how much they have improved on tarmac, and also set the seventh-quickest time in the longest stage of the season. Sébastien Loeb and Daniel Elena drove a perfect race on the Catalonian gravel and killed two birds with one stone thanks to the sixty-seventh victory of their career. First, they gave the Citroën Total World Rally Team their seventh world title with one round still to go before the end of the season. And secondly, their win has put them back in the overall lead in the Drivers’ World Championship chase. The outcome of the battle for the title will be decided in Wales in just under three weeks’ time.

In this difficult rally, the Dutch driver scored 4 championship points in his Citroën DS3 WRC for Van Merksteijn Motorsport in the classification for WRC team in the World Rally Championship. The Rally Queens moved a step closer to their goal of tackling the gruelling East African Safari Classic when Samira Khan and Anita Irwin completed the high speed Guru Nanak Rally over the weekend. Despite running on safety notes rather than pace notes the pair still placed their Escort well inside the top thirty at the finish of the 300 kilometre long rally. Read More »

The Kick Energy rally team chalked up another pair of top ten finishes on the recent Guru Nanak Rally when Alex Horsey recovered from differential problems to finish fifth overall and Simon Sharpe overcame a time consuming puncture to end the high speed event in eighth position. Read More »
