Rallying in Scotland will be very well represented at the Official Scottish Motorshow at Knockhill in 16/17th June. You can now drive a rally car on events in Scotland from the age of 14. And the rally displays will have examples of cars to suit all ages and aspirations at all levels.

The Brick & Steel Ecosse Challenge, Rally Team Scotland and ATS Rally Team have got together to display a range of cars representing all levels. For the 14 to 17 year olds, there will be a couple of rally prepared Nissan Micra 1000cc Junior cars. For the entry level into forest rallying there will be a Peugeot 205 GTi rally car, plus a Honda Civic Type R for the more ambitious and experienced.  Representing the entry level into the World Rally Championship there will be John MacCrone and a Ford Fiesta R2 from Rally Team Scotland who are competing in the WRC Academy.  And then to crown it all there will be an example of the top of the rallying ladder – a Ford Focus WRC. This car is being used by Euan Thorburn of ATS Rally Team to compete at the highest level in the 2012 Scottish Rally Championship.

The cars will be on display in the Rallying Zone positioned beside the Teen Drive taster area in the West Paddock. Drivers and representatives of the teams will be there to talk about the cars and how to get started if you fancy a go.

All the cars will take part in a track procession during the lunch break each day and 3 of the cars will do a high speed driving display at the hairpin. In addition, youngsters over the age of 13 who participate in a Teen Drive taster, and who have a real interest in starting rallying at 14 to 17, will be selected to get a ride in one of the rally Micras with a Knockhill instructor. There will be a couple of sessions each day.

The Motor Sports Association Go Motorsport group and the Rally Driving for Disabled People group will attend the event as well. The representatives will be available to talk to in the display areas and will take part in the track processions driving a couple of the rally cars.

We look forward to meeting as many people as possible and sharing our passion for the world of rallying with them – no matter what age, sex, ability or background.
