The Rally Queens rally team once more enjoyed a successful outing in the Kenyan National Rally Championship when Samira Khan and co-driver Chantal Young drove their Classic Ford Escort Mk1 to a podium position in the Classic Cup on the recent 60th jubilee KCB Safari Rally.

The pair, with new confidence after clinching sponsorship from WRC Tyre firm DMACK Tyres, tackled the three day long world famous rally with renewed vigour. Utilising stage to the south of Nairobi, including a mammoth 87 kilometre section, the 2012 rally was a celebration of 60 years of this prestigious event. With the Ford Escort running faultlessly all rally long the girls focused on a solid finish and were rewarded with their third consecutive podium of the season, consolidating their second position in the Classic Cup Championship. Samira; wow, this rally was really tough, but a lot of fun! The Escort was awesome again, every time I drive it I cannot help but smile! The support from the fans was great and I must say a huge thank you to DMACK tyres – brilliant grip in the changeable conditions and not one puncture all rally long!

The next round of the KCB Kenyan National Rally Championship takes place south of Mombasa over the weekend 7/8 July. So far in 2012 the Classic Cup has seen four different winners from the four rallies held so far, proving that this series for pre 1976 cars is a popular concept.
