The Tomcat Africa team scored their best ever result in the Kenyan Rally Raid Championship when both cars finished on the podium at the end of two days of tough racing at the recent Masinga Dam event. Susie Jauss finished a career best second overall at the wheel of her Tomcat Lynx whilst Eddie Belcher joined her on the podium for the first time this year.

The two day event at Masinga Dam proved popular with all competitors and the competition was tough. The top three vehicles were separated by less than two minutes at the end of the opening day and on Sunday morning Eddie moved into a commanding lead. A navigational error where he visited two checkpoints in the wrong sequence resulted in a time penalty which dropped the TVR powered Tomcat back to third at the end but Eddie was overjoyed with the improved reliability; For sure to loose the win is a bitter pill to swallow but hats off to (navigator) Mike Cheffings as he did a fantastic job on the notes on his first ever event! Both cars displayed perfect reliability and we are very happy with our first ever double podium!

The Masinga Dam event was the third of five rounds in the 2012 Kenyan National Rally Raid Championship. The next event takes place near Mombasa in September.
