After finishing 2nd in class at a recent Welsh National and Clubman Rally Championship, Klarius Group sponsored rally driver Sara Williams has been shortlisted as one of 6 drivers to enter a head-to-head shootout at the upcoming Rallyday event at Castle Combe Race Circuit.

The competition, run by Castrol in association with Motorsport News, was open to any driver from the UK who the judging panel felt had the necessary qualities to become a rally star, with the winner taking ultimate spoils of a funded drive in a Ford Fiesta R2 on a national rally, run by M-Sport, the team in charge of the Ford World Rally campaign.

Sara Williams comments: “When I found out that I had been selected for the final I was really pleased, I had entered quite a while ago so had begun to think that I hadn’t been selected. With the support of the Klarius Group my driving has steadily improved over the last two seasons and it is extremely gratifying to see this recognised in such an exciting way.”

This recent news comes on the back of a successful outing at the recent Coracle Stages, a round of the Welsh National and Clubman Rally Championship, where Sara finished 2nd in class and in 5th position overall, alongside co-driver Dai Roberts.

Sara and Dai contested the Coracle Stages as part of their Pirelli Welsh National Rally Championship campaign in the Klarius Group backed Group N Subaru Impreza. After a challenging start, they fought back against tough competition; missing out on a class win by just seven seconds.

The Coracle Stages rally is held on the Sweet Lamb rally complex, an iconic mid-Wales course that loops around the rolling Welsh countryside and presents drivers with some of the toughest gravel rallying in the UK. Throughout the day Sara displayed her usual smooth driving style and posted strong times in each of the stages. Her final time of 50minutes and 31seconds placed her second in her class, just 7seconds behind the class leader; she finished 5th overall.

After the race Sara commented: “It was a fantastic day and the crowd was great. The car has been performing really well this season; the Klarius exhaust and QH suspension components and electrics have withstood all the challenges that we have thrown at them. I am over the moon with the result and I look forward to putting the Klarius name on the top of my class very soon.”

Doug Bentley, Klarius Group R&D Manager adds: “It’s great watching Sara improving with every race and a very nice feeling to know that we have played a small part in that. Of course it isn’t just Sara that benefits from our arrangements, what better test can there be for a new part’s reliability than to attach it to one of the UK’s fastest competing rally cars.”
