The MSA British Rally Championship attended the Trax Performance Car Show for the first time this Sunday, displaying a selection of cars at the packed Silverstone-based event.

Representation came from official BRC teams M-Sport Ford with Steve Røkland’s Fiesta R1 rally car, AVS Motorsport with Tony Simpson’s NGK Spark Plugs BRC Challenge Fiesta ST as well as Twingo Trophy technical partners Monster Sport Europe with the Twingo R1 used by Keith Cronin at the start of this season. Andreas Mikkelsen finished 8th on the Barum Czech Rally Zlín in his factory-prepared ŠKODA UK Motorsport Fabia S2000 to maintain his lead in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge.

Juho Hänninen (ŠKODA Motorsport) won the event as the first six places were filled with ŠKODA Fabia S2000s, although the podium celebrations and final stage (SS15) were cancelled as a mark of respect following an accident on SS13 that claimed the life of a spectator. Two Renault engined drivers stood on the podium following a classic Belgian Grand Prix at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit yesterday. Red Bull Racing’s Sebastian Vettel finished in second position after scything through the field from his starting slot of 10th, with Lotus F1 Team’s Kimi Raikkonen completing the podium in third. Mark Webber finished in sixth, giving Renault engines three of the points’ scoring positions. Read More »

Kop Hill Climb, the annual hill climb event in Princes Risborough, is gearing up for the best revival yet.  Now in its fourth year, Kop Hill Climb 2012 will take place on 22nd and 23rd September.  Kop Hill has announced that car manufacturer Chevrolet UK will be the principal sponsor of the event.

“Given Chevrolet’s association with the famous Goodwood Festival of Speed, it seemed appropriate that we should look to focus on a more grass roots event as well,” said Chevrolet UK Managing Director, Mark Terry. “Chevrolet is a brand that’s all about everyday heroes, and the people that brought this famous event back into the public eye are very much that.” Read More »
