Donington Park has today announced it is to host the concluding round of the FIA GT1 World Championship on September 29th and 30th.

In a huge coup for the world-renowned racing circuit, the announcement confirms (subject to contract) that the Avon Tyres British GT Championship and the Cooper Tires British F3 International Series already planned for that weekend will now be incorporated into the FIA GT1 event. Read More »

This weekend saw the welcoming of the world’s best rally drivers to the Welsh countryside as they fought it out for the British round of the World Rally Championship, WRC Wales Rally GB. There was also a new face to rallying in the supporting National Rally with the debut of Rally Team GB’s 3rd Driver Facebook competition winner, Scott Larder, a 26 year old factory worker from Cwmbran, taking the wheel of the Production World Rally Driver Louise Cook’s Fiesta ST. The final showdown in the 2012 Brick & Steel Junior 1000 Ecosse Challenge took place at Kames Motorsport Complex on Sunday 16th September.  The ABR Roofing Services Kames Rally entry list was dominated by Junior 1000 cars and crews – 14 out of a total of 23 – out for a last blast before the long winter break.

The day started very damp with a few heavy showers making the tight track a real challenge. But this did not really phase the youngsters and after the first 2 stages the quickest 2 cars from the whole entry were Junior 1000 cars – Vassallo and Weston. But as the track dried out, the “bigger” cars got their advantage back and the leading 2 Junior 1000 cars ended the day in 4th and 5th quickest positions in the whole entry. Read More »

In the fifth round of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) at São Paulo, the Audi R18 had to admit defeat for the first time this season. The Le Mans winners Marcel Fässler/André Lotterer/Benoît Tréluyer in the Audi R18 e-tron quattro finished as the runners-up behind Toyota and in front of their team-mates Lucas di Grassi/Tom Kristensen/Allan McNish in the Audi R18 ultra. – Scotsman claims third place in rare race in South America

Allan McNish remains firmly in the FIA World Endurance Championship title race after the Scotsman recorded a third place finish in the São Paulo Six Hour race today (Saturday 15 Sep).

McNish, regular co-driver Tom Kristensen (Den) and local favourite Lucas di Grassi (BRA) steered their diesel-engined Audi R18 ultra home 74.679 seconds behind race winners Alex Wurz/Nicholas Lapierre (Toyota). Read More »
