The MSA British Rally Championship is still widely recognised as the world’s best national rally championship and the 2012 season attracted more media coverage than ever before.

Testament to the world wide appeal of the Championship is reflected by the rallybrc website recording 1,679,688 page impressions, 632,743 visits, that’s an average monthly total of 57,522 visitors. Samples throughout the season have realised a demographic split of 60% relating to visitors from around Europe of which approx 35% equates to the UK. Visitors from North America nett around 30%, 7% coming from Asia, and the remaining users from Africa, South America and Australia. Read More »

jaffa12 (7)Our first visit to Pembrey was a wet one, unsurprisingly. Not too bad on us during the day as the standing water around made for hazardous conditions but in turn provided plenty of spectacular action for the large post Christmas crowd. Proving to be the class of the field were Peter Lloyd & Emma Todd (Impreza WRC) who won by the best part of 2 minutes, in the end. Paul Fowden & Jason Sugden (Impreza) were a good 2nd overall, 19 seconds ahead of Geoff Kitney & Ken Gibbard (Lancer Evo VI). Read More »

NGK Spark Plugs has confirmed that it will continue to support the BRC Challenge in 2013, the ninth year of the MSA British Rally Championship’s successful support series.

The interest for next year’s NGK Spark Plugs BRC Challenge has never been higher, which bodes well for an exciting season ahead. Apart from adding the classic Scottish Rally, the regulations remain practically unchanged, a minor tweak to the technical regulations making it easier to enter.

As in 2012, five rallies will count, but this year there are eight scoring opportunities including the Ulster double-header. Points and a half on the final round should keep the interest right to the end of the season in the Dorset and Hampshire forests of Rallye Sunseeker. Read More »

Sébastien LOEB is without question the number 1 of international rallying, as confirmed by the 2012 world rally ranking WRR (World Rally Ranking) promoted by the IRDA (International Rally Drivers Association), the first place is always occupied by the French driver, in second place the Finnish Mikko Hirvonen, the podium is completed by Norvegian  Andreas Mikkelsen. These three drivers are followed by 1026 rally drivers from the 5 continents and 79 countries in the world, after the running all international rallies in the FIA calendar 2012, have scored the necessary results to enter the World Rally Ranking. McRae RAC championship 13Jimmy McRae will contest the 2013 West Wales Rally Spares RAC Rally Championship with the Jardine Lloyd Thompson Team alongside John Lloyd in a two-car team of Ford Escort Mk2s run by Melvyn Evans.

Dakar TV13The Road to Dakar is a new five-part documentary following a team of disabled British and American serviceman as they attempt to enter the most gruelling motorsport event in the world – The Dakar Rally.  Directed by award winning documentary maker Tim Pritchard (Ross Kemp on Gangs) and produced by Gaucho Productions, the series will debut on Eurosport this Christmas and detail how a madcap idea gave birth to an extraordinary rally team – Race2Recovery. Turkey, sprouts (and how difficult it is to buy for uncle Fred and aunty Joan), may be the topic of conversation at this time of year; so as a distraction for all rally competitors, the regulations and entry forms are now available for the 2013 MSA British Rally Championship ahead of the Christmas break.

Driver and co-driver registrations fees stay the same as in 2012 and with a huge list of eligible two wheel drive cars, national licensing and more cost effective event formats, in real terms it has never been more affordable to contest the BRC at the highest level. Read More »

West Wales Rally Spares RAC Rally ChampionshipWest Wales Rally Spares has been confirmed as the sponsor for the 2013 RAC Rally Championship. RAC Clubmans 13A special award for competitors in the 2013 RAC Rally Championship will give one lucky crew half their entry fee back after each of the championship’s seven rounds.

The award is the result of a partnership between the Roger Albert Clark Motor Club and Holton Homes and is aimed squarely at clubman competitors. The award will not be open to the top end cars in the championship. Read More »

Race2Recovery, the team of wounded servicemen aiming to be the first disabled crew to complete the Dakar Rally, has successfully completed their final training session ahead of the race in January 2013. The team’s aim of completing one of the toughest tests of man and machine is to raise money for Tedworth House, a rehabilitation centre for injured service personnel.
