Perico_peugeot207_1000MigliaPerico – Carrara 1st overall in the 37th Rally 1000 Miglia, the second round of the 2013 Italian Rally Championship. Sunday morning with two stages before the end the advantage was of only 20″, but showing great maturity Perico held a fast and steady pace to claim the victory; the last two stages reflect the behaviour during the race of the new leader of the Italian Rally Championship, as well as during the previous two days, he made no mistakes and always evaluated the risks he could take without ever exaggerating, this conduct forced his opponents to push to the limit to try to match his  “steamroller” pace, and in turn they made mistakes which allowed Perico a well deserved victory. In its comeback to competition after 35 years away, the Alpine A450 managed by the Signatech-Alpine team and with Nelson Panciatici and Pierre Ragues behind the wheel, finished fourth in the first round of the European Le Mans Series. The race was unfortunately interrupted 40 minutes before the end after more than one hour behind the safety car because track conditions were considered too dangerous by the Race Directors. Due to an unforeseen programme wrangle, the HRDC has accepted a last-minute invitation to field an ‘Allstars’ race at the AMOC Oulton Park event on 11 May.

“When I got the call to ask if the HRDC could rally a late call for an ‘Allstars’ race, I naturally felt that we should do all we could to accommodate the AMOC’s request”.

HRDC’s race director, Julius Thurgood, went on to comment: “We are already supporting the AMOC with our ‘Touring Greats’ pre-1960 historic touring cars at Oulton Park and had a fantastic day with them at Silverstone earlier this month – so it seemed only fair that we should take up the challenge of fielding a grid to help plug the gap in the programme, even though the call was very late in the day.” Read More »
