A whole different experience awaits the competitors in the 2013 Brick & Steel Junior 1000 Ecosse Challenge when they get to Ingliston on 27th April for the DCC Stages. This single venue rally uses the service roads in and around the Royal Highland Showground. There will be none of the ruts or gravel of the first Championship round at the old Charterhall airfield a month previous. But instead the roads will be narrow with loads of square corners to test the youngsters and their co-drivers.

12 Junior 1000 crews will start this extremely popular and heavily over subscribed event. 2012 Champion and current Championship leader Alex Vassallo will carry number 1 on his Citroen C1 but he will be hotly pursued by Ryan Weston in his Toyota Aygo carrying number 2. Harry Marchbank is next up in his Nissan Micra and he will be trying to give Messrs Vassallo and Weston something to think about. Harry was 2nd overall on this event in 2012. But Harry could also come under pressure from Andy Struthers who will have a different engine after the “new lump” did not perform well at Charterhall.

Of the 12 starters, 6 will be in their first year of rallying. Starting at number 5 and number 7 respectively are Dylan O’Donnell and Michael Robertson – 2 of the newcomers who exhibited great promise as they launched their rally careers very successfully on the first round.

But Ingliston requires drivers to show great respect, precision and commitment to score good times. These qualities are developing nicely  in the new breed of 14 to 17 year old drivers.
