What better way to spoil your dad on Father’s Day on Sunday 16 June than with coveted tickets to the world’s biggest classic motor racing festival? Moreover, as this summer’s Silverstone Classic (26-28 July) offers unrivalled entertainment for all ages, all the family can join in the high speed thrills and spills making what’s already an unforgettable Father’s Day gift all the more special.

No matter what his particular interest, any action-loving dad will be blown away by a visit to the dazzling Silverstone Classic for what’s an amazing high-speed trip down Memory Lane. Across three full days of non-stop thrills, there will be a glittering array of attractions, entertainment and activities, headed by a glorious line-up of 24 thrilling races featuring many of the world’s rarest, most spectacular and valuable historic racing cars.

Ranging from the evocative cars of the 1930s to the high-tech machines from the 1990s, the stellar race line-up will deliver some of the most spectacular grids ever seen in Great Britain covering the history of Formula 1, Le Mans, sports and GT cars. There’ll be famous faces, too, with celebrity chef James Martin and television presenter Tiff Needell among a host of stars who will be racing while three-times F1 World Champion Sir Jackie Stewart will be joining a host of legendary drivers from past generations all enjoying the superb nostalgia at Silverstone.

As if that isn’t enough to put a huge smile on every dad’s face, there will be more than 7000 classic cars lovingly displayed on the infield ranging from awe-inspiring Ferraris and Maseratis to lovable Morgans and MGs. What’s more this summer several iconic marques will be putting on huge displays to celebrate important milestones in their histories. Aston Martin is staging its centenary at the Silverstone Classic while Porsche is planning a mega parade of 911 versions of its 911s to mark 50 years of the world’s best-selling sportscar. It’s supercar maker Lamborghini’s golden anniversary, too.

As has become customary, live music will also be a major feature over the weekend, with major concerts on the evenings of both Friday (26 July) and Saturday (27 July) maintaining the fabulous event’s ‘Rocking and Racing’ tradition. The world’s biggest Pink Floyd tribute band tops the bill on Friday, while Saturday’s performances feature Sixties pop legends The Hollies. And don’t worry, entry to all these rock concerts is included within the general circuit admission price.

But neither does the entertainment stop there. A vintage fun fair, aerial displays, the Parachute Regiment The Red Devils, hot air balloons, helicopter flights, streetcar shoot-outs, an off-road zone, rally car and 4×4 experiences as well as giant TV screens showing all the on-track action are all part of the most remarkable show of the year. There is even a pampering centre for a relaxing massage plus the Shopping Village with exhibitors presenting a wide range of autojumble, automobilia, art, jewellery, books, videos and gifts for everyone. There’s even a chance for dads to learn to play famous rock music riffs at the Gibson Guitar Experience or to enjoy panoramic views from the towering BMW ‘Eye’.

“The Silverstone Classic is the biggest and best classic racing festival in the world as well as one of Europe’s most entertaining and action-packed car-themed events,” said Event Director, Nick Wigley. “There really is something for everyone – that’s why a family day out at the Silverstone Classic is the perfect Father’s Day gift for any dad with even the smallest drop of high octane fuel in their veins.”

In keeping with the event’s widely acclaimed ‘access all areas’ policy, all tickets include free entrance to both racing paddocks and pit complexes, trackside grandstands and live music concerts on Friday and Saturday evenings. Adult admittance is from just £35 (plus fees) and considerable savings are on offer for those festival-goers spending the full weekend at Silverstone and special packages for car clubs and their members are also available.
