Gary Wright / Ross Hynd MG ZRMG ZR pilot Gary Wright headed to the Scottish Borders last weekend as he contested The Jim Clark Rally, second round of the NGK Spark Plugs BRC Challenge. Co driven by upcoming youngster Ross Hynd from Irvine in North Ayrshire, the duo would tackle an asphalt surface for the first time this year on the closed public roads around the Kelso rally base but their event came to a premature end with engine failure on the second stage during Saturday’s leg. As second round of the NGK Spark Plugs BRC Challenge, the closed public road event would provide a chance for the Bilsthorpe rally star to make amends for his first round retirement and gain valuable class RC2 points. Callum Black & James Morgan 2Callum Black got his British Rally Championship campaign on track with a solid top 10 finish on the weekend’s Jim Clark Rally (May 31st/June 1st) despite a couple of setbacks during the course of the two day event.

The rally, based around the Scottish towns of Kelso and Duns, is the only one on the UK mainland to take place on closed public rounds and, as the second round of the Championship attracted a strong entry from Britain and beyond. Read More »

Victory for the boys in blue: Jari-Matti Latvala/Miikka Anttila (FIN/FIN) won the Acropolis Rally in Greece in the Polo R WRC. Volkswagen’s fourth win this season in the sixth round of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) marked the duo’s first triumph for Volkswagen. Two other points finishes gave the factory team from Wolfsburg further reason to celebrate: Andreas Mikkelsen/Mikko Markkula (N/FIN) claimed fourth place with an impressive final spurt – in just their third event as the crew of a Polo R WRC. Meanwhile, Sébastien Ogier/Julien Ingrassia defended their lead in the WRC Drivers’ and Co-Drivers’ Championship by coming from behind to snatch tenth place. On top of all that, Volkswagen is still leading in the Manufacturer’s Championship.
