Plato Tesco13Continuing his quest for success on the track, Jason Plato will continue another one of his personal quests of sharing his love for sandwiches by celebrating the launch of his second specially created sandwich.  Tesco Petrol Filling Stations up and down the country will begin stocking Jason’s second Limited Edition sandwich during the 5th Round of the 2013 British Touring Car Championship season at Croft Racing Circuit.

Following the success of last year’s Tesco Deli Club Ham, Coleslaw and Jalapeno Mayonnaise sandwich, Jason along with Bradgate Bakery and Tesco Petrol Filling Station have come together to create this year’s iteration: The Deli Club Jason Plato Limited Edition – West Country Cheddar, Onion with Spinach and Chive Mayo. The sandwich will again be sold at all Tesco Petrol Filling Station kiosks and the fans, spectators at Croft Racing Circuit will be the first to try the sandwiches during the weekend at Jason’s Q & A on The Filling Station at 4pm on Sunday.

Jason, a self-proclaimed lover of sandwiches is relishing the opportunity to once again share his love of sandwiches with the British public and give people an insight into his personal food tastes. Speaking about the launch and his new sandwich, Jason said: “Last year I wanted to show people I was the ‘King of Sandwiches’ as I’m called at home and judging by the success of the sandwich and the fact Tesco want me to create another, I think it’s clear that maybe I’ve found my true calling!

“My favourite thing to eat on the road is sandwiches, and stopping to get petrol from Tesco Petrol Filling Station gives me the perfect opportunity to taste the great sandwiches they have to offer in the kiosk and now I can get another personal favourite of mine right there.”

After last year’s launch, social media was flooded with fans digitally altering an image of Jason eating his newly launched sandwich onto many famous world landmarks. Peter Cattell, Category Director of Tesco Petrol Filling Station had this to say about the new sandwich and launch: “It wasn’t just fans buying and enjoying Jason’s first sandwich that encouraged us to continue the tradition, it was the online reaction that let us know that not only was the idea a winner, Jason has a talent of turning a traditional sandwich into something different by adding his own personal twist to it.”

Jason is currently third in the standings after four rounds and he along with the team are confident he can take charge at Croft Racing Circuit, making him not only ‘King of Sandwiches’ but also the king of the track once again.
