Duns driver Euan Thorburn won today’s GWF Energy Merrick Stages Rally in Galloway to keep his hopes alive in the ARR Craib Scottish championship and deprive arch rival David Bogie of clinching an historic fifth straight title with two rounds remaining.

Thorburn, co-driven by Paul Beaton from Inverness, completed the five forest stages in his Ford Focus WRC in a total time of 42 minutes 22 seconds. Bogie, also in a Focus, had a spin on the first stage and a puncture on the last, ending the day forty-four seconds behind the Borderer. Quintin Milne from Banchory took the final podium spot in his Mitsubishi EVO 9 – his third of the season – and remains second in the drivers’ points behind Bogie. Read More »
