Almost 8 months later than originally planned, due to heavy snow, the Red Kite Stages saw the crowning of the inaugural West Wales RAC Rally Champion was crowned with a round to spare. Martin McCormack & Phil Clarke (Escort MkII) set fastest stage time on all six stages to take victory by 42 seconds from Jason Pritchard & Dale Furniss (Escort MkII). Completing the podium were Matthew Robinson & Nigel Hutchinson (Escort MkII) who just held on to 3rd place after a final stage push saw Kevin Davies & Dale Bowen (Escort MkII) cut the gap from 8 to 3 seconds.
In the modern rally Sara Williams & Dai Roberts (Impreza) took victory by 23 seconds from Wug & Max Utting (Impreza). Jason Morgan & Adie Williams (Evo VI) were 3rd almost 40 seconds further back. Dylan Davies & Llion Williams (Escort MkI) took the open 2WD honours and in category 2 it was Terry Cree & Richard Shores (BMW 2002) who were victorious. And finally, even though they were first to finish, the category 1 honours went to Gwilym Roberts & Don James (Lotus Cortina).
