Luca Rossetti - Winner Monza Rally Show 2013The Monza Rally Show was only the third event this year for Luca Rossetti, who had been away from competition for some months; the three-time European Champion has not forgotten how to race and moreover how to win.

Despite the evident lack of training with respect to his opponents, he topped the Super 2000 category in a ŠKODA Fabia Super 2000, finishing 52 seconds ahead of Craig Breen; the Irish driver of the Peugeot Rally Academy had to content himself with  second place. Rossetti and Breen also fought head to head in the Memorial Simoncelli – Masters’ Show, an end-of-event shootout on the start/finish straight of the Monza track, where the Italian driver beat his Irish rival in the class final. Newly crowned MSA British Junior Rally Champion and winner of the Twingo Renaultsport R1 Trophy UK finished a gruelling 230km of twisty mountain roads featured on Rallye Du Var, the final round of the French Rally Championship.

The Renault funded drive in a Twingo R2 rally car came as a prize for winning the 2013 UK single make series which features in the British Rally Championship. The car was run by Italian team Gima Autosport alongside a second R2 for the German Twingo R1 champion who sadly exited the rally, crashing out just 1000 meters from the start of the first stage. Proud Scotsman Allan McNish is intent on making this year’s St Andrew’s Day one to remember when the Dumfries-born race ace challenges for his fourth win of the season in the Six Hours of Bahrain on Saturday (30 Nov).

McNish is already assured of the FIA World Endurance Championship Driver’s title along with co-drivers Tom Kristensen (Den) and Loïc Duval (F) in the eight-race series that began with the trio steering their hybrid-diesel Audi to victory at Silverstone in April.

Two other wins that included the Le Mans 24 Hours, three seconds and a third have earned the trio an unassailable points lead but McNish is nevertheless gunning for further success in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Read More »
