– Five rip-roaring, sell-out shows in Glasgow
– Clarkson, Hammond and May revved Scotland up for its special summer of sport

Top Gear Live roared into Scotland for its debut north of the border and the sell-out shows at the sparkling new SSE Hydro were hailed as a huge success.

The five packed performances were hosted by all three Top Gear presenters who were joined by driving legend ‘The Stig’ and more than 40,000 fans were treated to dazzling and dramatic 90-minute extravaganzas featuring all the best bits from previous Top Gear Live triumphs.

Among the stunts, supercars, pyrotechnics and inter-presenter banter, though, there was a special sporting theme aimed at previewing the city’s hosting of the 2014 Commonwealth Games later this year. Come the summer, the SSE Hydro will be home to gymnastics and netball – predictably the Top Gear Live ‘games’ were somewhat more outlandish.

After a stunning introduction which saw the three presenters thunder into the arena aboard a V8-powered stage, Clarkson, Hammond and May introduced a series of sporting challenges including epic motorised football matches, Reliant Robins and car curling.

The renowned Top Gear Live Stunt Team added to the non-stop, high-octane entertainment with a feast of breathtaking feats including base-jumpers hurdling over moving cars, blazing displays by fiery Porsches and the astonishing Cauldron of Death, which saw four daring motorbike riders racing around inside a small sphere.

With the dust now settling in Scotland, Top Gear Live has a busy year ahead. In May the team visits the Americas for the very first time with a Top Gear Festival in Barbados and further festivals are also planned for Australia and South Africa along with several more record-breaking arena shows yet be announced closer to home in Europe.
