A new concept in rallying heads for Morocco for its inaugural event, the Marrakech Express, in March 2014.

Once in a while, a completely new concept arrives and 2CV Adventures is just one of those. Born out of a desire to bring the fun back into rallying, 2CV Adventures has 15 ‘ugly ducks’ prepared and ready for the all new Marrakech Express rally – 29 March to 9 April 2014.

Toby Kilner, a seasoned rally driver, rally mechanic and the man behind the idea, said: “It is the ultimate arrive and drive – You don’t have to ship your own car, bring the spares, insure it, or look after it – 2CV Adventures does all that for you.”

When Crosby, Stills & Nash sang about the Marrakech Express in 1966, the Citroen 2CV was already an iconic car – especially with the hippies. Today, the era of free love, flower power and Swinging London are behind us, but the evergreen 2CV lives on and has become symbolic of the quirky French motoring of the period. Its eccentric styling, unique ride and minimal interior have made it the personification of the long-lost age of motoring simplicity and innocence, when driving brought a smile to your face.

Kilner added: “Flower power has wilted, but the 2CV remains and we will celebrate its extraordinary appeal with a rally through the Morocco of the song – our very own Marrakech Express.”

The Marrakech Express Rally competes along the network of roads less travelled, including desert tracks, mountain passes, out-of-the-way villages and even the fabulous Todra Gorge. The rally includes visits to Souks, a chance to watch sunset in the Atlas mountains, try a Tagine of lamb and stay at a desert camp – all bringing an authentic experience of this fabulous country, as well as a suitably eccentric event. From the coast to the Atlas Mountains, from verdant landscapes to desert, from tiny communities to exotic Marrakech, the rally explores it all.

Set up by Toby Kilner and John Brigden, an experienced classic rally organiser, 2CV Adventures aims to bring back the fun into rallying. All cars have been sourced in the UK and have been professionally rebuilt, including the addition of a rollcage, resprayed, reconditioned and come equipped with a Brantz. All are painted red and white and will be allocated by lucky dip.

With a few places still available, please contact John Brigden at 2CV Adventures to reserve your spot.
