Villeneuve Lydden14dJacques Villeneuve conducted his first proper test in his Albatec Racing run Peugeot 208 at Lydden Hill over the weekend as the French-Canadian began preparations for his 2014 campaign in the all-new FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy.

Villeneuve, a former F1 World Champion, Indianapolis 500 winner and IndyCar star, completed 40 laps round the home of British rallycross to allow the 42-year-old driver vital seat-time to perfect the car’s set-up. Read More »

On stage at Snowman rally 2 - West Coast PhotosThe opening round of the 2014 ARR Craib Scottish Rally Championships set off in Inverness at the Arnold Clark Thistle Snowman rally last Saturday.  The Snowman rally would also be the first event of the year for Kinross 18 year old Blair Brown, driver of the Peugeot 205 1.6 GTI, backed by QTS Group. Preparations for the rally began early and a test day was complete the week before, allowing Blair and Co-driver Richard Simmonds from Duns, to settle into the car ahead of their season opener. raceretro14 (136)After the show on Friday we returned to visit the rally stage on Sunday. Whilst we inevitably lost some cars that ran on the Saturday we still had plenty to savour and got our first view of a Lancia Delta S4 on UK soil since the RAC Rally in 1986. There were several highlights but right up there at the top was the Mazda RX7 of Dave Paveley. Once the exhaust system got warmed up the flames it spat out after accelerating were all a petrol head needs to put a smile on their face. Borderer Euan Thorburn clinched what he described as “one of his hardest ever wins” on Saturday’s opening round of the ARR Craib MSA Scottish Rally Championship in Inverness.

The Duns-based driver steered his Ford FocusWRC to victory on the Arnold Clark Thistle Hotel Snowman Rally, finishing thirty-four seconds ahead of Quintin Milne in a Mitsubishi EVO 9. Mike Faulkner, also in an EVO, clinched the final podium spot, a further three seconds back.

Defending five-times champion David Bogie had to settle for fourth in his Focus after losing more than a minute and a half with a front puncture on the third of five special forest stages, north of the Highland capital. Read More »

The headline this year is McLaren and they provided some superb cars from their illustrious history, especially the iconic McLaren M23 of James Hunt. The other anniversary being celebrated was the 30th anniversary of the Metro 6R4.
