Powertrain specialist Swindon are pleased to announce that they have opened a division in France. The new division is the result of the buyout of the Cupissol Moteurs company, who specialised in the maintenance and testing of rally engines. The new, French-based Swindon operation is managed by Oliver Volpi, who comes to Swindon with ten years’ experience as a Project Manager at Sodemo Moteurs.

Oliver Volpi said: “I’m delighted with the opportunity. We offer comprehensive engine assembly, maintenance and testing services here and joining forces with Swindon’s UK head office gives us access to high technology in the fields of design, simulation and manufacturing, which will help developing our business in France.” Read More »

The Historic Racing Drivers Club has been commissioned to stage a unique 45-minute, pit-stop, feature race at the Donington Historic Festival on Saturday 3 May.

The grid will be made up of specifically-selected historic touring cars which illustrate the formative years of the BTCC (formerly known as the British Saloon Car Championship): from the titanic duels between Jack Sears’ Austin Westminster and the svelte Jaguar Mk1 of Tommy Sopwith, the arrival of the ‘fast Fords’ in the form of Jeff Uren and his Ford Zephyr, the upset of the giant-killing Austin A40 of Doc Shepherd, through to the emergence of the mould-breaking Mini; the glory days of the Jaguar Mk2 – before the steamrolling arrival of the thunderous 7-litre Ford Galaxie, followed by the Lotus Ford Cortina’s utter domination, finally giving way to the might of the Ford Mustang and the class-winning capability of the nimble Ford Anglia.
