A truly diverse mix of British roads is on offer on the Jim Clark Rally, ranging from the opening blast through Duns town centre, to two-lane white-line B roads and tricky moorland stages.

By the time the crews in the MSA British Rally Championship reach the start line for this weekend’s Jim Clark Rally, they will already have driven these stages and should know what is in store for round two of the 2014 series.

Their low speed reconnaissance allows driver and co-driver to note the corners, crests, compressions and curbs on this event, unique in mainland UK to use closed public asphalt roads. BTCC alcoholIn a UK first the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship has introduced mandatory breath-testing, on every day at every BTCC event, to ensure that all competing drivers and senior championship officials are free from the effects of any alcohol in their system.

Whilst BTCC drivers and officials are highly unlikely to risk their safety and those around them by consuming alcohol immediately prior to or during a race weekend, even moderate drinking the night before an event may leave some residual alcohol in a person’s system, impairing both their safety and performance. Nicky Grist, in partnership with RAVENOL high performance motorsport lubricants, is laying down the gauntlet to all rally drivers to see who is the best national rally driver in the UK. The RAVENOL Nicky Grist Challenge is a one day shoot out to be held on the Nicky Grist Stages on the 12th July, with any entrant into the rally in any class getting the opportunity to prove their ability.

The overall winner will receive up to eight paid rally entries in to the 2015 BTRDA Rally Series, with up to £3000 of RAVENOL products to ensure their car is perfectly lubricated for each rally event.
