southern10014 (2)To complete a varied few events for us at 90right, we went and caught our first road races on the Isle of Man at the friendly races, the Southern 100. It was a magnificent 3 days of racing over on the island for all petrol heads. There were a multitude of races but it all came down to the Senior races for the solo riders and sidecars. In the solos Guy Martin (Suzuki) played a watching came for the first 6 laps sitting behind and watching Dean Harrison (Kawasaki), before taking the lead. Harrison had dominated the meeting to this point but it was Martin who took the main race by just over half a second. Dan Kneen (Suzuki) completed the podium over half a minute back after a comeback ride.

In the sidecars Conrad Harrison & Jason Crowe (Honda) took a red flagged race, which was on its last lap at the time. Sidecar TT legends Dave Molyneux & Benjamin Binns (Kawasaki) were closing in after battling with Wayne Lockey & Mark Sayers (Honda) through the race for what was 3rd place but then became 2nd overall. Cruel luck struck John Holden & Andy Winkle (Honda) who had taken the lead from Harrison after 2 laps but a mechanical failure saw them retire on lap 5.
