SamBihamPR14_10Bingley rally ace Sam Bilham will contest the Woodbridge Stages next weekend as he takes the long trip to Suffolk in a bid to take the lead of the 2014 Formula 1000 senior tarmac championship in his Next Big Step Nissan Micra.  The East Anglian Military base will play host to round six of the series in which the youngster holds a solid third position and will head to the South East coast in an attempt to repeat his category win in Scotland last month. PhilHallPR9_14Royal Air Force supported co-driver Phil Hall scored a well-deserved podium result last week at Rally Isle of Man as he successfully guided Phil Bruce through the tough Manx roads in their rapid Peugeot 206. Tackling over 165 competitive stages miles across the island which only measures 32 miles in length, the event was one of the toughest in the British Rallying calendar and Hall emerged a creditable third in class and ninth overall in the National B section of the event which centred on the famous TT Grandstand in Douglas. Dean Raftery / Aileen Kelly Ford Fiesta23 year old Dean Raftery recovered from an early event roll in his Bluebird Care backed Fiesta R2 to be crowned MSA British Rally Championship RallyTwo winner on last weekend’s Rally Isle of Man.  Due to the hard work by his team, Raftery and co-driver Aileen Kelly were able to restart the event after their leg one dramas and return to the TT Grandstand in Douglas on Saturday evening as champions.  Not only did they secure the hard fought RallyTwo title, but they also became class BRC2, FiestaSport Trophy and RAVENOL Oils Newcomers champions whilst finishing the championship in third place overall. Formula 1 test driver Giedo van der Garde and David Hart provided the highlight of the final day of the 2014 Goodwood Revival as they took victory in a riveting RAC TT Celebration race in the latter’s monstrous AC Cobra.

The pair, who fought off competition from £150million worth of rivals, were just one of a number of winners on Sunday as the world’s largest celebration of historic motor racing and vintage lifestyle also featured a poignant tribute to the heroes of the Second World War and, in particular, the D-Day landings. Goodwood Revival14eLord March today paid tribute at the Goodwood Revival to the men and women of Sussex who contributed so much during the years of World War II.

It is now 75 years since the ninth Duke of Richmond – Lord March’s grandfather – gifted the land that is now Goodwood Motor Circuit to the nation for the duration of the conflict.
